What is stoneware?

How is ceramic different from pottery?

Pottery only uses clay. On the other hand, ceramics are made from a combination of clay and other minerals to make them sturdy. 

Since pottery is made of just clay, it is porous and delicate as compared to ceramics. Due to its fragile nature, pottery is ideal for complicated designs.

 

Is stoneware glazed?

Yes, stoneware is glazed in various colors after the firing process to give it a protection layer and add to its visual appeal. Both glossy and matte finishes are used. Glazes also make the stoneware non-porous. Glazes can be in multiple lovely colors and hues to beautify stoneware.
